The Ambassador of the European Union H.E. Erwan Fouere visited the Integrated Bilingual Primary School “Fridtjof Nansen"

Ambassador Erwan Fouere on 13 November 2009 together with his coworkers visited the first integrated bilingual primary school “Fridtjof Nansen” in the village of Prelubishte, municipality of Jegunovce. During the visit, the Ambassador Fouere met the students, the staff of the school and the representatives of the NGO Nansen Dialogue Centre – Skopje which is the implementing organization of the project “Integrated bilingual primary school Fridtjof Nansen”. The main goal of the visit was informing the ambassador with more details regarding the methodology used for implementation of bilingualism and integration in the educational process as well as briefing him with a general introduction about the school itself which is the only school of this kind in the Republic of Macedonia. Partnership Agreement signed

The Minister of Education and Science of RM, Pero Stojanovski, the Mayor of Jegunovce Municipality, Toni Kocevski and the Executive Director of NDC Skopje, Saso Stojkovski have signed a Partnership Agreement for the project “Integrated bilingual secondary school” in Jegunovce Municipality. The construction of the school should begin in September this year and the school will officially start to operate on 01 September, 2010. Since this is a pilot project in the school, at the beginning only two classes will be formed for the Macedonian and Albanian students from Jegunovce Municipality. This project is financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom Norway and is a unique project of that kind in Macedonia and the region.

OSCE’s High Commissioner for minority issues, Mr. Knut Volebek, visiting NDC Skopje project in Jegunovce Municipality

The project “Integrated bilingual primary school – Fridtjof Nansen“in Jegunovce Municipality has been visited by OSCE’s High Commissioner for minority issues, Mr. Knut Volebek. The High Commissioner and the members of the Delegation had an opportunity to learn more details about the programs of the new model “Integrated bilingual primary school”, a model which has been implemented in this school by NDC Skopje in cooperation with the MFA, the Bureau for Development from Tetovo and the Municipality. The High Commissioner for minority issues has given support to this project and has also expressed a desire for expansion of this project in several schools and municipalities in Macedonia. (more)

Nansen Dialogue Centre Skopje is seeking for an educational manager for the needs of the project Integrated Bilingual Primary School “Fridtjof Nansen”.

All interested applicants should have a faculty degree (pedagogical faculty recommended), read, write and speak fluently the Albanian language, basic experience in integrated and bilingual education as well as dialogue!

	Norway, 01 - 06.12.2009 Study visit to Norway with the parents of the second generation students in IBPS "Fridtjof Nansen" Part of the teachers and parents of the students from the second generation who attend the integrated bilingual school in the village Preljubiste, Jegunovce Municipality, have made a study visit to the Kingdom of Norway from 1st till 6th of December, 2009. The purpose of this visit was for the parents and teachers to get familiar with the educational system of Norway, to exchange experiences how the schools are functioning, the conditions in which they are operating, the quality of the teaching programs and the involvement of the minority groups in the Norwegian educational system. The group had an opportunity to visit the primary schools “Sore Al” in Lillehammer and “Toyen” in Oslo, as well as the National Center for Multicultural Education in Oslo. (video)

	Jegunovce, 27.06.2009 The first generation of students in the Integrated bilingual primary school has completed the school year Due to the successful completion of the school year of the first generation of students in the Integrated bilingual primary school “Fridtjof Nansen”, a gathering with the parents has been organized in Jegunovce Municipality for the purpose of awarding certificates to the students. The teachers have informed the parents about the achieved success and results from the realization of the programs for formal and informal education of both classes in the school. The parents have expressed their satisfaction to be part of this project and that they are very happy with the way the school is functioning, the quality of the teaching and the significant changes they have noticed in their children. The parents had an opportunity to attend the final students' show which has been a result of the 9-month activities of the teachers with their students. Final student's show (video)

	Jegunovce, 17.05.2009 Celebrating 17 May - Constitution Day of Norway On 17 May, 2009, NDC Skopje in cooperation with the Mayor of Jegunovce Municipality has celebrated for the first time 17 May – Constitution Day of the Kingdom Norway in the integrated bilingual primary school. This event has been attended by Mr. Baskar Herman – a representative of the Embassy of the Kingdom Norway in Skopje, Mrs. Bente Knagenhjelm – a representative of the Nansen Network Management, as well as by lots of parents, local politicians, teachers and directors from the central primary schools in Jegunovce. For this occasion, the cultural-artistic group from the primary school in the village of Zilce took part in this event, as well as the winner of the children’s festival Ylberi – Shahe Shaqiri. The reason for celebrating this event is the unselfish continuous help from the Government and the people of the Kingdom Norway provided to Jegunovce Municipality since 2005 until present and this help will continue in the next three years as well.
