The Ambassador of the European Union H.E. Erwan Fouere visited the Integrated Bilingual Primary School “Fridtjof Nansen"
Ambassador Erwan Fouere on 13 November 2009 together with his coworkers visited the first integrated bilingual primary school “Fridtjof Nansen” in the village of Prelubishte, municipality of Jegunovce. During the visit, the Ambassador Fouere met the students, the staff of the school and the representatives of the NGO Nansen Dialogue Centre – Skopje which is the implementing organization of the project “Integrated bilingual primary school Fridtjof Nansen”. The main goal of the visit was informing the ambassador with more details regarding the methodology used for implementation of bilingualism and integration in the educational process as well as briefing him with a general introduction about the school itself which is the only school of this kind in the Republic of Macedonia. Partnership Agreement signed
The Minister of Education and Science of RM, Pero Stojanovski, the Mayor of Jegunovce Municipality, Toni Kocevski and the Executive Director of NDC Skopje, Saso Stojkovski have signed a Partnership Agreement for the project “Integrated bilingual secondary school” in Jegunovce Municipality. The construction of the school should begin in September this year and the school will officially start to operate on 01 September, 2010. Since this is a pilot project in the school, at the beginning only two classes will be formed for the Macedonian and Albanian students from Jegunovce Municipality. This project is financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom Norway and is a unique project of that kind in Macedonia and the region.

OSCE’s High Commissioner for minority issues, Mr. Knut Volebek, visiting NDC Skopje project in Jegunovce Municipality
The project “Integrated bilingual primary school – Fridtjof Nansen“in Jegunovce Municipality has been visited by OSCE’s High Commissioner for minority issues, Mr. Knut Volebek. The High Commissioner and the members of the Delegation had an opportunity to learn more details about the programs of the new model “Integrated bilingual primary school”, a model which has been implemented in this school by NDC Skopje in cooperation with the MFA, the Bureau for Development from Tetovo and the Municipality. The High Commissioner for minority issues has given support to this project and has also expressed a desire for expansion of this project in several schools and municipalities in Macedonia. (more)
